All the splitting axes have a concave blade to aid the splitting power. This one is heavy enough to split “rounds” of straight-grained timber. The textured handle offers added grip. The longer handle offers you a greater swing! Please note, that unlike the Maul (450), this axe does not have a hardened poll, so should not be used as a sledgehammer on wedges (460).
