A standard tool for building log houses; a log scribe
is used to transfer the contours of one shape onto
another. The scribe is used to draw between the upper
and lower sides of two horizontal logs, thus copying
the profile from the upper to the lower sides. The
upper log is then hewed to match the scribe line,
ensuring the logs fit well together with no gaps.
